Yakult Excursion

Yakult ExcursionYakult

On Tuesday the 27th of October the year 3 and 4 students had the opportunity to visit the Yakult factory and view the entire production process. This hi-tech facility incorporates some of the latest food processing equipment for the production of the Yakult products.

The students saw  the manufacturing of the plastic Yakult bottles, filling and packaging lines, the laboratory where all the quality control testing takes place as well as the fermentation area where the bacteria (Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain) is added into a milk mixture and fermented for up to seven days.

Following the tour the students watched a short video on the history of Yakult and the importance of maintaining a balanced diet. Lastly, of course, they had the opportunity to sample Yakult which had them requesting a second helping.

Back at school they enjoyed their free Yakult show bags which included stickers, a puzzle and a Yakult adventure handout with lots of interesting facts about the making of Yakult and our digestive system.image glooperbugssmall
